  7.     Back home, Senegalese singer Youssou N'Dour, a leader in
  8. "world music," drives a luxury car and cannot walk the streets
  9. without drawing a crowd. But in New York City he moves unnoticed
  10. and stays at modest hotels. Now filmmaker Spike Lee's new
  11. record label is releasing an N'Dour album, Eyes Open, that may
  12. finally introduce U.S. listeners to the versatile voice and
  13. richly textured rhythms familiar from France to Japan. "It will
  14. be a challenge to see if we can get African Americans to buy his
  15. music," says Lee. "It's kind of sad -- white college kids were
  16. hip to reggae and Bob Marley way before the black masses."
